Suzanne writes about the struggles of life in a fast paced world, where finding love and romance seems the least likely.

Within the pages of a book lies a sanctuary that is a happily ever after of its own.

MEET THE AUTHOR

I have been a Redwood Tree all my life. It’s time to be a Saguaro.
—S.Catalano

Suzanne (D’Ambrogi) Catalano began writing novels, and became a published author in 1999 with a contribution of short stories in an Anthology, Along the Way: our unique relationship with horses.

Suzanne has traveled across the country with her dog, Winnie, learning, practicing and competing in the K9 Performance Sport; Nose Work. In a short time, Suzanne and Winnie have earned many competitive titles and are currently trialing at the Summit and Detective levels.

Suzanne’s stories are now filled with insight and inspiration as she shares what she has learned from raising her kids, horses and dogs. In her non-fiction book, A Little Dog’s Adventures in a Big Dog’s World, Suzanne demonstrates the remarkably deep connection she now has with her dog, Winnie, and is passing on her philosophy with examples of doing Nose Work Winnie’s way.

Newly published in Feb. 2024, is Suzanne's second book, Sun-Kissed Mountains of Home, a fiction romance novel about two adversaries in the horse world working through their differences by channeling equine healing powers.

In the first stage of production is Suzanne’s third book, Sunset West, a contemporary romance novel about second chances. It is natural to want to connect but also to pull away when one has been hurt. There is no blueprint, no instructions on how to heal, but through tenacity, faith, and surrender, Suzanne’s characters will find a way to overcome.

Suzanne writes fiction novels which include strong animal characters to bring out the personalities of the protagonists.

Sun-Kissed Mountains of Home

Heiress Miranda Howarth-Dunn longs for the things money can’t buy. Orphaned and raised by servants, Miranda seeks comfort and companionship at a riding academy. Inspired by her friend whose disabled brother wished to ride, Miranda envisions creating an equine therapeutic program that gives patients and their families opportunities to ride together. All she needs is a genuine cattle ranch to make her dreams come true. Ethan Baldwin, a fourth-generation of throw-back cowboys, values doing things the old way. He finds his family ranch and land of his ancestors, under constant threat.

The unpredictable nature of the cattle industry tests the financial stability of all the ranches surrounding the small community of Rambletap Springs, MT, including the Baldwin’s ranch, Alma Soñada. Though it could secure the finances, the last thing Ethan wants is for his parents to bring tourists to the ranch for some riding program.

Sun-Kissed Mountains of Home brings together two adversaries who, despite their opposite goals and different backgrounds, find mutual understanding as they work together around horses. Learning to communicate using animals as an example, Miranda and Ethan travel on parallel paths seeking a way to bridge the gap created by their differences. Forced into a dangerous situation, they rely on their spiritual connections to the energies around them to cope. Can the ghosts of legends and lore with whom Miranda and Ethan feel a connection be their common ground? Will they discover they might be kindred spirits after all?

  • Feeling as though nose work has changed my life, I was thrilled to read Suzanne's book. She used her words to describe my feelings of the fun and joy that happens on the nose work journey. Through Suzanne's and Winnie's stories we get to glimpse a bit of their nose work experience. We get to see that loving bond that develops as a dog is allowed to search and use their nose, and the handler watches and learns. They truly become a team. Their stories are inspiring and educational. I highly recommend this heartfelt book.

  • I assumed this book followed a dog trained for service work, for example, in the military or helping the disabled. I’d never heard of scent work—a new sport done with a dog and its human just for fun. In this book, I learned all about scent work and more importantly, its incredible benefits to the human partner. The book follows Suzanne and Winnie’s journey through successes and failures in scent work training and trials, where the goal is completing, not competing, and both partners finish happy, relaxed, and with a stronger bond. Highly recommended for dog lovers and anyone who needs an uplifting story.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed Suzanne Catalano's book chronicling her adventures with her dog Winnie in the sport of nose work. This is a book I would have loved to have had when I began on my own journey in this sport. It is full of lots of detailed information about two of the major venues of nose work; NACSW and AKC. It also has lots of interesting information about many factors that influence how dogs scent. In addition, it also tells the love story between a woman and her dog and how their relationship deepened through participation in this unique sport. If you are an animal lover, especially one interested in K9 scent(nose) I think you will really enjoy this book.

  • As an animal lover and member of the military, I couldn't wait to read this book. I have worked around so many working fogs and even cared fir an injured dog. This book enlightened me to a sport I had no idea existed. What an interesting way to learn communication with your animal doing what he instinctually loves...sniffing! I enjoyed the stories and advice. Listening is definitely something we all need to do better when communicating with our animals. Thanks for a great read.
